BACK Investing with FAMI

Hi,

Photo courtesy of FAMI FB Page

My life starting of this year has been busy because of some things to do and was not able to update this blog. But I am happy writing this because it's been a while I have not able to invest in FAMI. One of my goal this year is to go back investing and I want to start it starting the first month of the year and so I did. Last September I redeemed few of my shares to buy a Netbook for work because my old laptop is already damaged. I bought it at PHP 14995.00 , it was a 10" ASUS white netbook, the screen can be detached to the keyboard and has a 4-6 hours battery life. I love this netbook :) my money is worth it for this.

Back to investing with FAMI, I had started investing last January 20, 2017 through direct payment at Metrobank, for the past 3 years I am automatically investing through my Unionbank account but I noticed that it is not credited to the account to same day I wanted it to be put to my FAMI account. So for this year I want to invest through paying directly to Metrobank. I wanted to open also a savings account at Metrobank and hope I can open this month of February or March of this year. When I redeemed my share last year, it took about 2-3 weeks that my money was transferred to my Unionbank account, it was a long wait actually since I really needed the money that time.

Talk soon.

Cheers,

Life Update...It's been ages!

Hi,

It's been ages!!!Oh yeah my last post was August 2015 and it's October 2016 already. I really miss u all!

It's been 13 months which is 1 year and 1 month ago since I wrote on this blog. A lot has happened during that 1 year and 1 month to me, I can't specifically mentioned all of those but I would like to summarize what really happened why I am out in the blogging world. I apologized for being away for so long. I missed writing to this blog.

Ok, let me now start my summarize story here.

Last August 2015 in my last post I mentioned about being a judge in my previous school where I teach before in there Ms and Mr Nutrition Month. I also got myself enrolled in a NC 2 Food and Beverage short course as a requirement in my application for a public school. All teacher's are required now to have a NC 2 certificate aside from the 4 year Bachelor Degree. I finished that for 4 months only and passed the national certification exam after that, the short course was expensive and it depleted my Coop savings :( yeah but I know knowledge can't be bought. During that 4 months also, I have met my first boyfriend and now an ex-boyfriend. We are classmates on the class where we met. I will no longer mentioned him here since we already parted our ways last July 17, 2016. Haha I still remember the date but anyways that's all about him, thank you, lol!

A lot of opportunities come along my way during those 1 year and 1 month but I declined them all, YES who would believe I have the guts to declined them since I am a type of person who always accept anything that throws at me and specifically it is a teaching job. Since I got my degree all I really wanted was to teach in a school but there is something along the way or i think on myself that blocks it for me to achieve it. After I graduated from College last 2009, I had an experienced working online and the work is flex, I own my time and that interests me a  lot. While working online I still applied in schools to be a teacher and they hired me but only for a few months, a 2 month, 3 month or 5 month contract only. So during the day I worked as a teacher and at night as a virtual assistant online. It was really hard to have 2 jobs at the same time, I lost so much weight and was not sleeping very well. After that experienced teaching I had stop last 2014.

Right now I am still working online but my current employer has a problem on his business and this keeps  me worried if when will I have this kind of job. I don't know where will I go if this will happen, I am financially depending on it. Plus the very sad part of this was that my savings has been depleted already, meaning I have 0 savings or emergency fund, 8k only in FAMI-SALEF since I withdraw a 25k to buy my new laptop now to use for work. Yes very sad right :( but I am not losing hope, I am praying that I will be out of this situation soon and will got my finances back on track. I am also planning to buy a VUL from a friend this month.

I don't want to dwell and think about the negative side right now and I am now thinking on the positive aspect of what's best to do about my situation. I have a plan to go back to teaching next year. I don't really know yet right now on what to do but hoping the situation I am in right now will not last too long.

Since right now I am not busy with worked I can now have the time to update this blog always. :)

Talk to you soon.
Cheers,

Budget Adjustment + Financial Update

Hi,

It's been a while I haven't posted about my finances. I have told you on my previous post that I was laid off from my first job and the result is that my income has been down to 50%, yes half of it, it was not easy at first but I have accepted it and moving on. Had accepted a replacement job right away after I was laid off but it does not work out. I am used to work flex, meaning I own my time, I will decide what time I will start and end my work everyday and it does not work for a night owl like me.

Ok here it goes, my finances has been down but that does not stop me from continue living within my means. This month is a breakthrough on my Emergency Fund, I was able to save 30k for it and right now I am very happy :) it is already 2 months of my salary that I was able to save. Yay! So I am excited to put more to it until I get to 6 months worth of emergency fund. It has been almost a year that I've been struggling to save for my emergency fund, I had lots of unexpected travel plus expenses last year that I was not able to hold up and my emergency fund was nearly getting to 0, oh yes at the end of last year my emergency fund went down to 2k, unbelievable and not desirable either. I don't want this to happen again to me this year.

My FAMI-SALEF is growing, I started with only 5k as an initial investment last March 2013 and continue adding up to it until now with a 1k amount every month, oh yeah small but small does still matters :) , and right now I have 30k+ total investment with a 2k+ gain, yay a lot to be thankful for!

Our St. Peter Life Plan, our because I am paying two every month, for me and for my mother, this sounds morbid but I am just securing the future. I have only 9 months left to pay the maximum 5 years contract. Another milestone on my finances :) After I finish paying for this, I can now add the amount to my FAMI-SALEF. I want to diversify my mutual fund investment this year, I would like to open an account to Sunlife and choose the balance fund, I want to try a balanced fund also, but still my priority this year is my emergency fund, maybe next year I can open another account at Sunlife.

So for this month and the rest of the year my budget will be adjusted, no more unnecessary expenses, like clothes, bags, shoes, etc. I should only purchase the needs. Sometimes I do splurge on some wants but hoping to still stick to my budget. I have a fun fund of 500 php on my budget this month, so I am hoping to stick hard to this.

This is all for now, till next time.

PROBLEM Again With FAMI

Hi,

It's been 10 days or almost 1 week and 3 days now that my FAMI - SALEF additional investment for January 21, 2015 has not been resolve.

This is what happened why this problem again happen to me. I invested at 12: 35 AM on January 21, 2015 via my Unionbank account and the process was successful, meaning the money was successfully  been deducted to my account, there was a Cyber Receipt that I kept for reference. I thought it is all good and I will just wait 2-4 days for them to send me the confirmation receipt that will be directly send to my house via the Air 21 as courier. I've been doing additional investment every month since i am using the cost averaging method and my target for this is 5 years, I've started on March 2013 until now, so I am doing it regularly. But last month of January I never thought their would be a problem on that added investment I made. So days passed I check my FAMI Portal account if it was credited but ohlala it is not! Even a single peso, there was none that is visible on my account. Then I decided to email their customer service plus their Facebook account to know about my problem.

I got no reply from them, even a single reply there was none, so days passed I got a reply and they are asking me some information for their verification purposes and I give it to them. They said thank you for the verification purposes and they will get back to me after their operation team solve it. Then I got an email and it is said that "Please provide complete details of investment including  time of deposit and branch code po. kasi hindi po nag rereflect sa bank statement po namin . " So I provided them again the time of deposit that is reflected on my cyber receipt plus the bank code yesterday, I even attach again the cyber receipt. But until now I got no reply.

This kind of issue with FAMI is what I don't like. When you invest there was a delay or sort of this kind of problem that your investment could not be credited to your account. How come this is happening? My bank has no problem deducting the amount I invested since it was successfully been transferred to FAMI. I have high hopes on Mutual Funds like FAMI but this kind of problem is not really funny. I've been working hard almost 8-12 hours a day and investing on them is my retirement plan but they again fail my expectation :(

I do hope and pray this problem or issue will be resolve soon. I will not invest on them again this month if this issue will not be solve.

Till my next post.

Masters Summer Class End

Hi,

I miss u!!!!

Yeah it was 1 month and 14 days to be exact that I was not able to post on this blog! And because of my summer class during Thursday to Saturday plus my online work the whole week eh I was not able to write anything. I concentrated on my studies and work and it ended up very well today :) I had completed 9 units of Masters of Education Major in Educational Management for the whole summer amounting to PHP 6-7, 000. The money spent doesn't matter to me when it comes to educating myself, this is one of my investment for myself that anyone can't take away from me. So if you are planning to pursue or take that course you like, then go ahead, take that as an investment for yourself! Education is something we should be proud to have for ourselves.

I haven't yet received or know what are my grades for those 9 units I take but I hope I performed well for those 3 subjects, but I am confident my grades are higher :)

Today I finish enrolling for this first semester of SY 2014-2015. I enrolled 12 units which is 4 subjects of 3 units each. The class is during Saturday and Sunday only because this course is intended for teachers who is working from Monday to Friday, so it would not be possible to have a class during weekdays, only weekend is possible.

Overall, I must say that I had enjoy studying even though during the afternoon I feel very sleepy listening to the reports of my classmates and the teacher, hehe. But it was all worth it and I had learned a lot from it.

I had only two pictures that I can show you about our summer class, I have my friend Irene with me on the 2nd picture.

Selfie pose plus the classroom :)

Me and Irene relaxing during lunch break.

So that was it!A great summer class indeed!

FAMI Issue Solved

Hi,

My last post was whining and complaining about FAMI because of my additional investment to my SALEF account on March 17, 2014. Forgive me for that and now I will positively write about them.

When I emailed them and got no clear response from them, on March 21, 2014 in the afternoon, their customer service representative emailed me back and said "Maam, your investment is confirmed for booking today. Please wait for your confirmation receipt via Mail". And my reaction is "Yay!Thank You Very Much". I realized that my whining and complaining on my last post is not good. I should had not write it, I should not write when my emotion is not in line with the right mind or thinking.

Then I check my FAMI Portal and log in into my account and my additional investment was added on it. Today, March 27, 2014 I heard the doorbell and it was a Air21 delivery man delivering the confirmation receipt. I received it with a happy face :) I take a picture of it.

I learned a lesson about last post experience and will keep this in mind starting today:
"Never complain on what you don't have or any difficulty you had but be thankful everyday on what you have"

Till my next post.

When Impatience and Irritation Strikes

Hi,

I should not be writing this today but I like to burst out what I feel so please bare with me.

This starts with my internet connection got very slowly today so my mood in the morning starts up very bad. Plus when I am already working with my task a sudden FAMI (First Metro Asset Management Inc) thing goes into my mind, why? It is now March 20, 2014 and I am wondering why I did not receive a Booking Confirmation of my March 17, 2014 in the evening investment to my SALEF(Save and Learn Equity Fund) account. I use the Unionbank Online Banking Facility to invest and I am using this facility for about 7 months already and I NEVER ever got a problem using this, I TRUSTED my bank fully coz a "SUCCESS" status is visible on my bank account that the money was billed to FAMI.

Then why I didn't receive a confirmation from FAMI that they successfully receive the money from my bank account? So, this morning at 4 pm I send them an email asking about it and also why when I check the FAMI Portal to check if it is successfully there, it was NOT!A 0 investment info for this month of March!!!Usually I invest at night so the next day FAMI will receive it and book it before 11 am. So how come on March 18, 2014 until today March 20, 2014 the amount is not yet there in my SALEF account??

So an impatient attitude and irritation strikes me today because the email reply I got from there Customer Support was they needed me to send the Cyber Receipt I have using my Unionbank account use to invest on March 17 and a full name. I provided them the receipt and my full name and I got a reply of nothing until now on how was it and what is really the problem they can't put it up on my SALEF account. Another thing was, another Customer Support replied me saying their account number is blah..blah...(i cannot mention the account number here). I send a reply saying I don't understand what and why she is saying their account number is blah..blah..I got NO reply afterwards.

Why this people cannot answer or help me with my problem? Am I too very impatient with this?YES I am...and very irritated! I will give them until tomorrow to answer my email and hope this problem will not get worst :( or else I will stop investing on FAMI and hoping, praying this will not happen...I want to invest for a maximum of 5 years for my retirement.

Please do help me pray that it will be resolved soon.

That's all for now.

Cheers,

FAMI Investment Update January 2014

Hi,

I have been investing to FAMI (First Metro Asset Management Incorporated for 11 months now. I started last March 2013 and until now I am investing with the minimum PHP 1000 monthly. When I check the FAMI Portal website and log unto my account I see that I have already 2655 shares of Save and Learn Equity Fund (SALEF), I will not disclosed yet here on how much already my investment is, quiet not that big yet, hehe. But even if my total invested amount has not been reach yet or I have not gained yet until now, it is ok since I am not thinking for short term but for long term investing. The market value is lesser than my total invested amount for about 1K. I have a target of 5 years of investing but hopefully I want to increase it to 10-20 years, my fingers is crossed :)

I am keeping my COR for future redemption, COR is very important to keep coz it will be use when you want to redeem your shares. I am using my online banking facility (Unionbank) to invest monthly since it is more convenient than going to Metrobank each time I want to invest my money. I am very grateful that last year I was able to start investing at an early age of 25, they said it is better to start early than start when your already old. I guess I don't want anymore to brag here about my investment :)

Best regards,

Tracking Down MAY Expenses

Hi,

It's 12:02 AM of June 1, 2013 now, another month to experience new things and to discover new world that God has to offer :). For the past 2 months I've been tracking my expenses so that i'll know if I am effectively following my budget plan and of course being to live frugally at the same time. Don't be shock on what will I'll show you below on my expenses this month.

As you can see the expenses, I have very big expenses this month of May not like the previous month of March and April. My total expenses has been blown up to an amount of PHP 29315. My help to parents amount doesn't matter or does not hurt on my part because my family depends on me. The irregular expenses has increased but I have already told you that this month my acne has started to appear again on my face and I have to go to my dermatologist again to have treatments for my acne, an expenses that blow my budget up for this month. Below is the budget plan I made for month of May, so now you can see the difference on how much my expenses increased.

My supposed to be budget for May is only PHP 23100. But it ended up to PHP 29315. The difference is very big PHP 6215.

I know that this is not really a good news coz I do want to spend less on my irregular expenses and save/invest more. There are things that I can't control and need to importantly take care to like what happened on my face to have those acne back. But right now it is slowly been clearing up, the treatment has worked out. A lesson learned that I should really stick to the doctor's regimen and advised for me to do.

Right now, I just lay out my budget plan for June, you can see the image below. So do hoping that I can follow this budget plan now and work slowly to building up my emergency fund for this month.

Who is Suze Orman?

Hi,

I've been busy lately and keeping this blog up to date seems a bit hard this days. But I know that blogging is not easy, it does requires patience and of course hard work. So I am here now to update this blog :) Why I am writing this topic now? Well, you know all the while that I reading and following some financial bloggers and reading most of their posts that catches my attention. One of their posts was all about "Suze Orman"? So I am really curious of who is there person that most bloggers are talking about.

So I research and read the blogs that talk about her and this is what I have read:

Suze Orman is one of America's most recognized expert in personal finance. She is called "a force in the world of personal finance" and "one-woman financial advise powerhouse" by USA today. A two-time Emmy Award-winning television host, New York Times mega bestselling author, magazine and online columnist, writer/producer, and one of the top motivational speakers in the world today, Orman is undeniably America’s most recognized expert on personal finance.

photo taken from his website: Just click here

Last night when I am browsing some bloggers post that I follow, I stumble upon a blog that featured a video about her interview in ANC by Karen Davila. CLICK HERE to watch the video from a blogger's post named Jill :) . A few minutes video that do tell everybody especially to us "Filipinos" to "live within our means but within your needs". A line that I quiet didn't grasp at first but later on I understand what she meant. We have to clearly understand the difference between a "want" and a "need".

I'll be posting next about an "Expense Tracker" from her website that I was able to grab on what she says on the video that I do really want to try.

So keep reading my blog and watch out for it :)

Tracking Down April Expenses

Hi,

It's been a while I was not able to write a post for this blog. The month of April was the busiest month for me since 2013 came in. I had so many struggles in my service for SFC and other stuff I need to first do. But right now I want to write about my expenses for the month of April. I started tracking it last month (March 2013) and right now hope that my expenses for April will be lower.

Expenses for Month of April:
  • Utilities (Electricity, Telephone, Internet) - PHP 2,285
  • Insurance (Life/Health) - PHP 4, 905
  • Irregular Expenses (Day to Day Expenses) - PHP 3, 304
  • Help to Parents - PHP 14, 500
TOTAL: PHP 24, 994

Last month my expenses was PHP 27, 418.5.

So the difference was PHP 2424.5, so I was able to save this money. This goes to my investment and my savings account.

Hope that this month of May I can still save more and invest more on my mutual fund.

Cheers,

Different Types of Investments

Hello Again,

Many of us didn't know the different types of investments. Especially those that haven't started investing yet. When I joined IMG(International Marketing Group) - Wealth Academy, my ignorance on investing has changed. They have several series of seminars offered to Associate Broker like me for free to attend to.

There are three different kinds of investments. These include stocks, bonds, and cash. Sounds simple, right? Well, unfortunately, it gets very complicated from there. You see, each type of investment has numerous types of investments that fall under it.

There is quite a bit to learn about each different investment type. The stock market can be a big scary place for those who know little or nothing about investing. Fortunately, the amount of information that you need to learn has a direct relation to the type of investor that you are. There are also three types of investors: conservative, moderate, and aggressive. The different types of investments also cater to the two levels of risk tolerance: high risk and low risk.

Conservative investors often invest in cash. This means that they put their money in interest bearing savings accounts, money market accounts, mutual funds, US Treasury bills, and Certificates of Deposit. These are very safe investments that grow over a long period of time. These are also low risk investments.

Moderate investors often invest in cash and bonds, and may dabble in the stock market. Moderate investing may be low or moderate risks. Moderate investors often also invest in real estate, providing that it is low risk real estate.

Aggressive investors commonly do most of their investing in the stock market, which is higher risk. They also tend to invest in business ventures as well as higher risk real estate. For instance, if an aggressive investor puts his or her money into an older apartment building, then invests more money renovating the property, they are running a risk. They expect to be able to rent the apartments out for more money than the apartments are currently worth – or to sell the entire property for a profit on their initial investments. In some cases, this works out just fine, and in other cases, it doesn’t. It’s a risk.

Before you start investing, it is very important that you learn about the different types of investments, and what those investments can do for you. Understand the risks involved, and pay attention to past trends as well. History does indeed repeat itself, and investors know this first hand!

Cheers,

How Much Money Should You Invest?

Hello,

I am a first time investor and I had just started investing through a Mutual Fund company particularly on FAMI (First Metro Save & Learn, Inc) last month (March 2013). Many first time investors think that they should invest all of their savings. This isn’t necessarily true. To determine how much money you should invest, you must first determine how much you actually can afford to invest, and what your financial goals are.

First, let’s take a look at how much money you can currently afford to invest. Do you have savings that you can use? If so, great! However, you don’t want to cut yourself short when you tie your money up in an investment.

What were your savings originally for?
It is important to keep three to six months of living expenses in a readily accessible savings account – don’t invest that money! Don’t invest any money that you may need to lay your hands on in a hurry in the future.
So, begin by determining how much of your savings should remain in your savings account, and how much can be used for investments. Unless you have funds from another source, such as an inheritance that you've recently received, this will probably be all that you currently have to invest.

Next, determine how much you can add to your investments in the future. If you are employed, you will continue to receive an income, and you can plan to use a portion of that income to build your investment portfolio over time. Speak with a qualified financial planner to set up a budget and determine how much of your future income you will be able to invest.

With the help of a financial planner, you can be sure that you are not investing more than you should – or less than you should in order to reach your investment goals.
For many types of investments, a certain initial investment amount will be required. Hopefully, you’ve done your research, and you have found an investment that will prove to be sound. If this is the case, you probably already know what the required initial investment is.

If the money that you have available for investments does not meet the required initial investment, you may have to look at other investments. Never borrow money to invest, and never use money that you have not set aside for investing!

With an initial investment amount of Php5, 000 you can start to invest in a mutual fund company you prefer that requires this initial investment to start.

Till my next post.

Cheers,

Investing and Financing

Hi,

Investing and financing, two different terms that has different meanings. But for a newbie like me these two terms has a broad meaning. There are lots of business right now that operates and most of them does know what is investing and financing. These businesses are either productive or not. Cash flow of the businesses needs to be stable for it to run in the long run.

Another portion of the statement of cash flows reports the investment that the company took during the reporting year. New investments are signs of growing or upgrading the production and distribution facilities and capacity of the business. Disposing of long-term assets or divesting itself of a major part of its business can be good or bad news, depending on what's driving those activities. A business generally disposes of some of its fixed assets every year because they reached the end of their useful lives and will not be used any longer. These fixed assets are disposed of or sold or traded in on new fixed assets. The value of a fixed asset at the end of its useful life is called its salvage value. The proceeds from selling fixed assets are reported as a source of cash in the investing activities section of the statement of cash flows. Usually these are very small amounts.

Like individuals, companies at times have to finance its acquisitions when its internal cash flow isn't enough to finance business growth. financing refers to a business raising capital from debt and quity sources, by borrowing money from banks and other sources willing to loan money to the business and by its owners putting additional money in the business. The term also includes the other side, making payments on debt and returning capital to owners. it includes cash distributions by the business from profit to its owners.

Most business borrow money for both short terms and long terms. Most cash flow statements report only the net increase or decrease in short-term debt, not the total amounts borrowed and total payments on the debt. When reporting long-term debt, however, both the total amounts and the repayments on long-term debt during a year are generally reported in the statement of cash flows. These are reported as gross figures, rather than net.

Till my next post.

Jing

How to Make Additional Investment to FAMI

Hi,

I was supposed to write this last night but it took me until 3 am to finish my work. Yesterday I made an additional investment to FAMI (First Metro Asset Management Inc.) for SALEF (Save & Learn Equity Fund) with a minimum 1K investment. This is what I want to do each month, I'll invest a minimum amount to this kind of investment.

Here are the steps I go through:

1. Go to nearest Metrobank and pay your additional investment using the payment slip. The payment slip was color green.

2. Fill up the new IAF (Investment Application Form), FAMI announced that starting March 18, 2013 they will no longer require the original Investment Application Form (IAF) for additional investments. For direct deposit to funds Metrobank account like I did, they will require a fax or email copy of a new IAF together with the copy of payment slip.

3. Scan your documents (New IAF Form & Payment Slip) and email to FAMI@firstmetro.com.ph or fax it at fax number (632) 816-0467.

Till next post,

Jing

How to compute the profit gain of FAMI investment?

Hi,

When I wake up this morning an email has arrived from FAMI. I felt very glad reading it :), it was my Statement of Account about the initial investment I made last March 19, 2013. From March 19-25, 2013 I already gained PHP 55 for 6 days :).

How to compute what you gain? This is how it is:

Initial Investment (II) : PHP 5,000 - 100 (EF) = 4900
NAVPS 1 is the NAVPS on March 19, 2013 when I first bought the share: 5.2470
NAVPS 2 is the NAVPS for today March 25, 2013
Entry Fee (EF) (2%) 0.02*5000 =100

Number of Shares bought is: NS = 4900/5.2470 = 934 shares

Profit Gain = NS* (NAVPS 2 - NAVPS 1)
                                                                 = 934 * (5.3056 - 5.2470)
                                                                 = PHP 55

My money now is  PHP 4,955.43 . I am very excited about this :) The additional investment after this that I need to deposit is at minimum of PHP 1,000. Hope you too will start to invest in a mutual fund in FAMI soon...the sooner the better...

See yah on my next posts :)

God Bless,
Jing-Jing

How to Invest in FAMI?

Hello,

Again posting my new  post  at 1:14 am here in Philippines. When I became an Associate Broker in IMG last December 2012 one of my reason why I joined is to invest in a mutual fund. I have a little knowledge in mutual fund before because I didn't know how to invest or where to invest my money. But when I joined IMG I have learned all of these and my mentors or co-associate's in IMG said that the best mutual fund company they would recommend for me to invest is First Metro Asset Management, Inc (FAMI)  particularly with the fund name Save and Learn Equity Fund. The minimum initial investment is PHP 5,000.

So here is the requirements needed when I first invested with First Metro Asset Management, Inc (FAMI). You should fill up this forms (1-3).

1. Account Opening Form (for individuals) for corporate account their is a different form.

2.  Investment Risk Profile Form
